St. Michael Catholic Elementary School celebrated Career Day during Catholic Education Week with a fun-filled and inspiring event that brought together a diverse group of professionals from the community. The day began with a warm welcome by David Hansen, Director of Education, who set a positive tone for the event. Mr. Hansen commended Principal Anna Boyle and all staff who were involved in leading and supporting this career day opportunity. In a particular way, he offered thanks to the outside professionals who offered their time to inspire and ignite the imagination of the students and finally reminded the students that, “Career Day is a fantastic opportunity for you to explore the many future paths available to you., Most importantly, use today to begin to think about who God is calling you to be."

Students were excited to explore various career paths as they interacted with fire fighters, police officers, paramedics, and representatives from the City of Hamilton Forestry, complete with their impressive vehicles.

Students also had the opportunity to meet an aerobics instructor, operating room nurses, a YMCA Child and Youth Worker, a Daily School Route Manager, a Producer for the Toronto Raptors, our own HWCDSB Religion Consultant Carm Biundo, a mechanic, a screenwriter for CBS, and a dental hygienist. It was particularly special to see several presenters who were past graduates of St. Michael CES, showing the strong connection between the school and its alumni.

The afternoon was capped off with a performance by Grenville Pinto and his sister Christabel Pinto, adding a musical touch to the day’s activities. Students not only learned about various professions but were also inspired by the recurring message from all presenters: the importance of loving what you do and giving back to the community. It was a remarkable day that highlighted the vast array of career opportunities and the value of service, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
