Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Elementary School Advent Service Project: The Christmas Tree of Hope
Annunciation of Our Lord (AOOL) recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of its heartfelt Christmas Tree of Hope initiative, dedicated to supporting those in need within the community. Each year, the Grade 8 students at AOOL mark the first week of Advent by launching this cherished service project. All proceeds from this initiative support the efforts of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
In a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation, 3D-printed ornaments were hung on the tree by HWCDSB staff, trustees, and distinguished guests to inaugurate the event. Students who bring in non-perishable food items will receive their own ornament to decorate the Christmas Tree of Hope. Once the project concludes, students take their commemorative ornaments home.
During the assembly, a liturgy and the lighting of the Advent candle set the tone for the season. These meaningful acts, along with a touching video slideshow and the ornament ceremony, brought the community together in faith and generousity.
