As the summer ends, HWCDSB’s Focus on Youth program concludes its vibrant season of spring and summer camps, clinics, and workshops.
Supported by Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board staff and community partners, the program engaged students in a Catholic-centered, fun, and safe environment, fostering academic growth and enhancing educational outcomes for students from kindergarten through grade 12.
Phase I of the program, held from April to June 2024, featured a series of sport development clinics in soccer, basketball, track and field, and a general multi-sport focus. These sessions offered participants foundational skills in a challenging and enjoyable setting.
The Focus on Youth Summer program, running from July to August 2024, continued the momentum with a diverse range of camps, activities, and special events. This year’s offerings spanned a broad spectrum of extracurricular categories—including athletics, arts, culture, academic extensions, life skills, and leadership—as well as tutoring and physical literacy opportunities. The comprehensive approach was a big hit, drawing in lots of eager participants and boosting overall engagement. Students had the opportunity to explore a variety of interests through these engaging and well-planned activities.
As the program concludes, this summer has been a successful and rewarding experience for all involved.
