A Joyful Tradition

This Christmas season, Grade 6 students at St. Mark Catholic Elementary School brought together creativity, teamwork, and math in a truly festive way! Under the guidance of Mrs. Langsford, this innovative project went beyond celebrating the holiday spirit by connecting directly to the Grade 6 math curriculum.

Through concepts like measurement, geometry, and problem-solving, students designed, built, and coded miniature floats to navigate a festive parade route. This hands-on experience brought abstract math concepts to life while integrating 21st-century skills such as coding, collaboration, and critical thinking.

The project culminated in a cheerful Santa Claus Parade within the school, where classes gathered to cheer on the student-designed floats. The event filled the school with excitement and joy, creating a memorable moment for students, staff, and visitors alike.

What started as a classroom activity has now blossomed into a cherished tradition at St. Mark. This initiative beautifully illustrates the connection between joyful learning and Catholic education, showcasing how we can use our God-given talents to spread joy and build community.

As we journey through Advent and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, may we continue to reflect His light through creativity, faith, and togetherness.

Merry Christmas from all of us at St. Mark’s!
