1 Corinthians 14:15 proclaims, "Music is designed by God to move both spirit and mind."

On Friday December 13, the St. Teresa of Calcutta CES choir brought the gifts of music and joy to the residents and staff of The Court at Rushdale retirement residence.

Under the guidance and musical accompaniment of Educational Assistant Mr. Capobianco and AIT Instructor, Ms. Rihar, the choir of 40 strong treated the audience to such Christmas classics as Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bell Rock.

"It was so fun seeing the audience clap and sing along", said Grade 7 student Isabella H.

The residents were very appreciative of the festive concert. "I was so happy they played my favourite carol, Mary, Do You Know? It was lovely," said audience member Florence.

The residents treated the students to some Hot Cocoa and Christmas cookies after the concert, which was enjoyed on such a cold, winter day.

The St. Teresa of Calcutta choir continues a strong tradition of sharing their talents with the school, St. Catherine of Siena Parish and the greater community for many years. "I am always in awe of their talents each time I hear them," said school principal Jeff Zwolak. "I know they practice weekly to fine tune their performances. I am very proud of the students hard-work and kindness and Mr. Capobiano and Ms. Rihar's leadership."

The choir will next perform at an upcoming liturgy celebrating the Advent season.
