On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the St. Mary Catholic Secondary School community gathered for a festive evening of music at their annual Christmas Concert. The event, which featured both instrumental and vocal ensembles, drew a "standing room only" crowd that filled the school’s cafeteria with Christmas cheer.

Led by Music Directors Mr. Roberto Santos and Mrs. Nancy Boss, performances included many student groups, such as the St. Mary Jazz Band, Chamber Choir, Grade 9 Concert Band, Grade 12 Stage Band Class, and the newly formed Junior Vocal Ensemble. Over 100 students from St. Mary and surrounding Catholic Elementary schools—Guardian Angels, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Augustine, St. Bernadette, St. Joseph, Canadian Martyrs, and St. Thomas the Apostle—came together to perform a rich mix of Christmas classics, sacred music, and beloved American jazz standards.

A particularly memorable moment of the evening was the guest performance by HWCDSB Superintendent Morris Hucal, who joined the choirs on accordion and vocals for a stunning rendition of a Ukrainian Christmas carol. His participation added a special touch to the celebration, highlighting the concert's spirit of collaboration and community.

The event was a resounding success, showcasing not only the musical talents of the students but also the power of music to bring people of all ages together in celebration of the joyful anticipation of Christmas. The St. Mary Christmas Concert was a true testament to the joy and unity that the holiday season brings.
