Students honouring Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day, we honour the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. We hold them in our hearts, keep them in our prayers, and remember their courageous acts of service.

This year, students and staff across our board gathered to remember, reflect, and pray for those who served. At St. Mary Catholic Secondary School, a student-written prayer captured the spirit of the day:

Remembrance Day Prayer
Dear Lord, we take this time to honour the peacekeepers and the veterans who gave their lives in the service of our country, Canada. You gifted them with strength and bravery to protect the lives of others. During times of conflict and war, you blessed them with resilience and strengthened the bond they had with their comrades. May we not only remember their courageous acts of service but also recognize them as young women and men with hopes and dreams. They were people like you and I with family, friends, talents and everything to live for. All of our staff and students remember our veterans and all those who serve today in both our thoughts and prayers. Far too many of them paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that we often take for granted. Let us not forget them today and always!

St. Mary, pray for us. Amen.

Let us continue to honour and remember their sacrifices today and always
