St. Marguerite d'Youville Family's Christmas Toy Drive for City Kidz
"Your dream of universal charity became a mission in the Church. We give thanks to you for the inspiring vision that is ours today as your dream lives on”
St. Marguerite d’Youville Prayer
St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Elementary School students and staff pray their patron saint's prayer daily. In that prayer, they recite and reflect on the life and example of the school's patron saint.
St. Margueritte d'Youville students and family members, Sophia, and Dominic (grade 5) as well as Nicholas (grade3), wanted to give this upcoming Christmas season. These students created, organized, and distributed flyers to family, friends and staff members at the school and in the community for a Toy Drive for CityKidz.
Sophia said, "I thought it was a great idea to help because some children do not get gifts for Christmas." Dominic echoed a similar sentiment, "the most important part of the toy drive is helping children in our community that are less fortunate and hopefully this can help them have a nice Christmas".
On Sunday December 2nd the family hosted an open house with hot chocolate and candy canes for those able to donate. A total of 80 toys were collected by Sophia, Dominic, and Nicholas. We are very proud of these students and their leadership of such a worthwhile and rewarding idea.
